REVIEW
Halloween H20 20 Years Later
Halloween 20 years later is set (you guessed it) 20 years after the original outing of homicidal maniac Michael Myers. Laurie Strode has a new name and a new life in California with her son John Tate. The first thing that worries me about the film is that it follows on from Halloween 2 and totally disregards parts 4, 5 and 6. One question what was the point? Personally I dont see it. It makes the series more confusing but if you can put this bad point aside youre left with quite a decent movie. H20 takes the direction of recent horror slashers like Scream and isnt as dark and creepy as the original. We also dont get vintage Myers but this doesnt bother me too much. The fact that mainstream stars are cast in the film doesnt dampen my aspects very much but I couldnt take LL Cool J that seriously in the film and this made me lose most of the atmosphere while he was onscreen. A lot of younger people have only seen H20 or prefer this sequel because it goes back to the Scream and I know what you did last summer style so they like the more modern take on the genre. Jamie Lee Curtis is once again brilliant in her role as the haunted Laurie Strode but please people! dont give her one liners! Josh Hartnett is also believable as her son. (I think the guy looks like Myers if you squint). Oh I also thought that Adam Arkin did well as the smooth, calm boyfriend of Keri Tate. Give that man George Cloony look-alike of the year! Overall a decent horror film full of shocks and thrills but not nearly as long enough running at about 80 minutes. 7/10
Does this mean Hall8weeN also ignores parts 4, 5 and 6?

One of the many masks used in filming of H20. You can spot that the mask changes at different points in the film. |
